The Staithes Paintings – Paul Smith
1st – 29th April
Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun. 11am – 5pm
A series of Staithes Paintings, following a recent winter Residency.
Paul has produced an entirely new body of work in response. In this new age of the Anthropocene his paintings mediate lost and repurposed human structures entwined with vegetal life. The works remind us that what we consider ‘nature’ has always been framed through the aesthetic and that a new discourse of paint can help us to see the strange luminosity of a world in which the human is an always-tangible presence in the natural world.
