From The Woodland To The Coast

1st  April – 30th April
Weds – Sun 11am – 5pm

Staithes Studios April exhibition presents an exciting body of recent works painted en plein air in oils by Doncaster based artist Andrew Farmer. The paintings are a response to some of Andrews favourite locations in Yorkshire. From his local woodland to the cliff tops of Flamborough Head and Staithes. Andrew works exclusively from life in oils.

We first came across Andrew whilst out walking on the cliff tops at Staithes and were struck not just by the stunning quality of the painting on Andrews outside easel but by also by the commitment and determination of Andrew to a career in the tradition of en plain air (in the open air) painting. We got chatting and Staithes Studios have been happy to represent Andrew since that cliff top meet up in 2015.

Andrew been shortlisted for many key awards and shows including The Royal Academy Summer Show and exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA);The Royal Society of Portrait Painters; The Royal Institute of Oil Painters ;The Haworth Prize- Northern Landscape Painter; The New English Art Club and The Annual Show, Royal Society of British Artists.Further north his work was selected for the Contemporary Portrait Award at the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle.

Andrew is going from strength to strength and is certainly a young artist to watch with his work finding its way into a steady increasing number of collections. In this show we are presenting the largest collection of Andrew;s work that we have shown at the gallery, we will continue to hold and show a smaller selection of his work after the show.
