Stef Mitchell
Mono printing from nature, Stef works with printmaking, painting, photography and artists books to create an edge from which the organic accident and intentional mark can be read. Her book practice focuses on the physical form of the book using cutting and folding to produce sculptural pieces that explore the book as an object, creating tension between the read and unread. Small hand held books invite the reader to negotiate their own narrative through the book.

After a degree in film, photography and sound Stef completed post graduate studies at Goldsmiths followed by a second degree in Fine Art. Her work has been exhibited in The International Artists Books Exhibition in the 2014 and 2016 Liverpool Biennale, She has exhibited in Artists’ Book Fairs at The Baltic Gateshead, The Tetley Leeds and The Fruitmarket Gallery Edinburgh.

Ian Mitchell

The Artists’ Book allows Ian to explore a range of connected ideas through imagery in a series of self published books. His limited edition books offer the reader an insight into his wider practice.

As a digital printmaker working predominantly with the landscape using a reductive language, his practice pursues of a minimal outcome. He has been developing an approach to digital printmaking which combines an interest in design, logo, symbols, signage and landscape.

Working with books gives Ian the opportunity to take a subject that interests him, and explore the more abstract elements through digital drawing and photography. The narrative presented graphically with a language of signs, symbols and signifiers.

He has exhibited in Artists’ Book Fairs at The Baltic Gateshead, The Tetley Leeds and The Fruitmarket Gallery Edinburgh.
